Join us to Taste Local Meats & Learn about Purchasing Directly from Farmers

Jamestown, NY (October 21, 2019) - Have you ever wondered where your meat products come from? Would you like to reduce the number of steps between the farm and your table or freezer? Would you like to taste FREE meat products while visiting with local farmers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this event is for you!

The public is invited to join us on Tuesday, November 12th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Falcons Nest Banquet Hall, 2001 E. Main Street in Falconer, NY to taste locally produced meat products, visit with area farmers to learn more about their farm businesses and ask questions, and learn more about purchasing meat directly from a farmer.

This event is co-sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County, the Chautauqua County Beef Producers, and local farmers who raise livestock and market meats directly from their farm to the consumer. The food will be prepared by 3 C’s Catering of Kennedy.

The public is asked to make a reservation with the number planning to attend by contacting Lisa Kempisty at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County at 716-664-9502, Ext 203 or by e-mail at ljk4@cornell.edu. Reservations are requested by November 9th to accurately plan for the amount of meats to prepare for tasting.

The schedule for the evening will be as follows:

  • 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Public welcome to taste local meats prepared by 3 C’s Catering & meet farmers to learn about their farm and products offered. Cheese & crackers and a vegetable tray will also be provided – all FREE of charge to the public.
  • 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm: “Building a relationship with your farmer - what consumers need to know about buying meats directly from farms” presented by local livestock producers Ted Card, Matt Harper & Joe Osborne.
  • 7:30 pm - 8:00 pm: “Communicating with the slaughterhouse about your meat cuts” presented by Barry VanOrd with Coffaro’s Custom Butchering.
  • 8:00 – 8:30 pm: Opportunity to ask questions and visit with local farmers.
  • This event will allow consumers to learn more about purchasing high quality, nutritious meats directly from a local farmer. Plan to join us to learn more!
