"Pig Patrol" Fun Show Raises Funds for Seeley Foundation

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (September 18, 2018) -- On Sunday July 15, 2018 at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds two great agencies pulled together for a good cause. The 4-H Teen Ambassadors, led by Liz Comstock, coordinated a 4-H fun show called “Pig Patrol” to teach local law enforcement about the 4-H program and to raise funds for the Seeley Foundation.

Liz helped to recruit law enforcement personnel and connected them with a 4-Her in the pig project. The Officer then showed that 4-Her’s pig during the Pig Patrol held following the open class swine show at the Chautauqua County Fair. The event raised over $300 for the Seeley Foundation in memory of fallen Deputy Michael Seeley.

Liz and other youth in the hog project worked with the Officers and they were able to educate them on the importance of 4-H in their life and how to work with an animal. Overall it appeared the Officers enjoyed themselves. Branden Decker, a 4-H alumnus, was the guest judge for the show.

The Officers that participated included Wayne Seeley, Mike’s dad & Retired Investigator for Chautauqua County who showed Liz Comstock’s pig; Chris Howlett, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office showed Jaiden Huntington’s pig; Jim Curtis, Town of Ellicott Police showed Braden Lesch’s pig; Jim Quattrone, Retired Lieutenant Chautauqua County Sheriff’s showed Corinne Covert’s pig; Tim Pence, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office showed Kelsie Jackson’s pig; Sashene Bargar, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department showed Kamryn Harper’s pig; Andrew Caruso, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department showed Brendon Keefe’s pig; Chuck Holder, Undersheriff for Chautauqua County showed Emily Hammond’s pig; Jeff Curtis, NYS Police showed Lydia Covert’s pig; Nate Root, Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department showed Rachael Harper’s pig; Jesse Evan, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department showed Josie Allen’s pig; Nicholas Thomas, SUNY Erie and Erie County Sheriff’s Office showed Tessa Warner’s pig; and winner Dave Morton from Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department showed Kayla Schauman’s pig.

The show would not have been possible without sponsorship from local businesses. Anderson’s York and Show Crosses, Wall Street Dairy – Jeff Winton, Have It Now, Inc., Cottage Ceramics, Chris Keefe’s Builders, Sheila Marzinek, Rose Lynn’s Emporium, Garden of Eden, A New Dawn’s Daycare, Lakewood Apothecary, Amy Allen, and The Trophy House & Top Shop Apparel Creations all made contributions to the Pig Patrol Show.

We look forward to this being an annual event with the Law Enforcement Officers working and learning alongside youth in Chautauqua County 4-H.
