The 4-H Dog Project is welcoming new members for the 2018-2019 4-H year! Youth learn a variety of information about dogs in the winter months. Weekly trainings are held April through June and dog shows being held at 4-H Acres in Stockton in June and July. Youth and their dog learn how to participate in Obedience, Rally, Grooming and Handling, and Agility.
The general philosophy of the 4-H Dog Program is not the training of dogs, but rather the positive development of young people. The dog is used as a medium for this training. In the process of working with your pet, you will be met with challenges, responsibilities, successes and failures which will help you grow and mature as a person. We hope that all 4-H members who participate in the Dog Program have an enjoyable learning experience. Working with a dog can be an extremely rewarding opportunity, as well as a lifelong skill. Being able to relate to a dog is a wonderful part of a person’s life.
4-H enrollment is open now! Interested families can contact the 4-H Office for more information at 716-664-9502 x214 or kde32@cornell.edu.
