4-H Fashion Revue Proves "There's No Place Like 4-H"

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (June 23, 2017) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s 4-H Youth Development Program’s annual Fashion Revue was held at Park United Methodist Church in Sinclairville, NY on May 12, 2017 with the Country Critters 4-H club hosting the event. This year’s theme was “There’s No Place Like 4-H.” 4-H members were evaluated on sewing skill as well as their modeling ability.

Fashion Revue arrangements were made by the 4-H Family and Consumer Science Committee chaired by Joyce Edwards. Committee members include Debbie Caruso, Joyce Edwards, Sue Harper, Nancy Johnson, Laurie Short, Opal Sprague, and Linda TeCroney. Judges for the evening were Joyce Edwards, Nancy Johnson, and Irene Lesch. Debbie Caruso served as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

Generous Fashion Revue Special award sponsors were A New Dawn’s Day Care, Mary and Chris Dorman, Canadaway 4-H club, Debbie Caruso, Chautauqua County Dairy Princess Joyce Wiltsie, Country Critters 4-H club, Peggy Dye, Joyce Edwards, Fredonia Fireworks 4-H club, Haff Acres, Harmony Haystackers 4-H club, Sue Harper, Molly Anderson, Ethan Johnson, Janet Kapuscinski, Irene Lesch, Opal Sprague, Stockton Panthers 4-H club, and the Stow A Way Kids 4-H club.

Awards were given to first year sewers Mikael Anderson, Maci Harmon, Haley Odell, Charlynn Ulmer, and Natalie White. Receiving special outstanding sewing awards were Emily Brown, Elizabeth Comstock, Rachel Comstock, Holly Crandall, Sierra Delahoy, Mackenzy Graziano, Maci Harmon, Kamryn Harper, Kaylee Hodge, Breanna Keefe, Kylie Keefe, Haley Odell, Deona Sanders, Luisa Smith, Amelia Sprague, Natalie Turecek, Melinda Waag Joyce Wiltsie, and Matt Wolcott.

The Martha Carlson annual Memorial Award is sponsored by Ethan and Nancy Johnson. This award is given to any male sewer who has participated in the sewing project for three or more years and excels in their sewing project skills. Through the sewing project Mrs. Carlson helped to build the confidence and strengthened the character of the young men that she taught. This year Sam Comstock, Jarod Dorman, Adam Lesch, and Josiah Sprague received this special award.

The 4-H’ers who were chosen to go to the State Fair in late August are Emily Brown, Liz Comstock, Kaylee Hodge, Melinda Waag, and Joyce Wiltsie.

Commentators for the evening were Jared Dorman Stockton Panthers , Mackenzy Graziano, Rachel Comstock, Deona Sanders Country Critters, Joyce Wiltsie Frewsburg Hayseeds, Emily Brown, Adam Lesch Canadaway, Melinda Waag Fredonia Fireworks, and Liz Comstock Harmony Haystackers. Photographer for the event was Shari Graziano Country Critters 4-H club leader. Amelia and Josiah Sprague from Stow A Way Kids provided the music during the fashion revue.

The Western District Fashion Revue was hosted by Chautauqua County on June 10 at Hurlbut United Methodist Church on the Chautauqua Institution grounds.
