4-H to Offer Tractor & Farm Machinery Safety Course

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (March 13, 2017) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s 4-H Youth Development Program invites youth age 14 and older to participate in a three day tractor and farm machinery safety course April 10th, 12th, and 15th . It is important for all youth who operate tractors and farm machinery take this course regardless of their experience. Many youth who graduated from the class admit that they thought they knew it all but learned some new, interesting, and more importantly life-saving information regarding tractor and farm machinery operation.

The course features 24 hours of instruction that includes in-class instruction, homework, and a hands-on driving portion. The class is led by Denny Wright, retired BOCES instructor. The class is held at the Frank Bratt Ag Center located at 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown on April 10th and 12th from 10:00am-3:00pm. Youth are asked to bring a lunch each day. The driving portion takes place at the student’s choice of LandPro in Clymer or Larry Romance and Son in Sheridan on Saturday, April 15th. Upon completion of the course youth will receive a certification that can be added to their resume. The cost of the class is $30.00 per participant. Youth do not have to be current 4-Her to participate.
