Annual 4-H Fashion Revue Presented

ANNUAL 4-H FASHION REVUE PRESENTED

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (May 18, 2015) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s 4-H Youth Development Program is excited to announce that the annual 4-H Fashion Revue was held at Park United Methodist Church in Sinclairville, NY on May 8, 2015 with the Country Critters 4-H club hosting the event. This year’s theme was “4-H is Your Ticket to Success.”

Members have been working on their sewing projects since this fall, learning different techniques and methods. As a year round project, members take on a multi-step process of learning about, designing, and creating their projects. To complete the project, they are required to attend two separate dates, the evaluation and show days. Members are then evaluated on sewing as well as their modeling ability.

Over thirty youth received awards for their projects in three different categories, Cloverbud, First Year, and Outstanding Sewer. Each year, Ethan and Nancy Johnson sponsor the Martha Carlson Memorial Award which is given to any male sewer who has participated in the sewing project for three or more years and has shown continual improvement in their sewing skills. This year we had two young men receive this award, Sam Comstock and Jarod Dorman.

The Western District Fashion Revue will be hosted by Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H at their county fair at the end of July. The following 4-H members have been chosen to attend the regional event: Mackenzy Graziano, Shannon Heath, Emily Brown, Amelia Sprague, Deona Sanders, Rachel Comstock, Kaylee Hodge, Kelsie Jackson, Elizabeth Comstock, Kylee Odell, Erma Jean Wolcott, Melinda Waag, Kendra Dorman, and Joyce Wiltsie. Three 4-H members were chosen for the State Fair: Melinda Waag, Kendra Dorman, and Joyce Wiltsie.

Commentators for the evening were Jarod Dorman and Kendra Dorman (Stockton Panthers), Mackenzy Graziano and Rachel Comstock (Country Critters), Joyce Wiltsie (Frewsburg Hayseeds), Kaylee Hodge (Clymer Eager Beavers), and Emily Brown (Canadaway). Photographer for the event was Nancy Johnson, Country Critters 4-H club leader.

Arrangements were made by the Chautauqua County 4-H Clothing and Textile Committee: Debbie Caruso, Joyce Edwards, Suzanne Harper, Laurie Short, and Opal Sprague. Judges for the evening were Joyce Edwards and Sue Harper.

Generous Fashion Revue Special Award Sponsors were Irene Lesch, Debbie Caruso, Country Critters/Nancy Johnson, A New Dawn’s Daycare/Dawn Comstock, Joyce Edwards, Kim Waag, Sue Harper, Ethan Johnson, Canadaway/Heather Lesch, Harmony Haystackers/Dawn Comstock, Opal Sprague, Mary Dorman, and Cheryl Vaillancourt.
