Jamestown, NY (March 24, 2016) Local agriculturalists from throughout Chautauqua County would like to share their passion for farming with neighbors and friends at the 1st Annual Farmer Neighbor Dinner. The community is invited to attend the upcoming Chautauqua County Farmer Neighbor Dinner on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at St. John’s Church, 270 Newton Avenue in Jamestown, NY. The program will begin at 5:30 pm - vendors & appetizers; 6:30 pm - dinner buffet featuring local foods; and 7:30 pm - guest speaker & awards to recognize local leadership, excellence and innovation in agriculture.

A diverse group of agriculture industry representatives involved in producing grapes, milk, meat, crops, maple and vegetables will gather for this event to recognize the importance of agriculture in Chautauqua County and to honor our industry leaders. Local non-farm neighbors are invited to attend to learn more about the farm families involved in agriculture who produce our high quality, fresh foods for all of us to enjoy.

Open communication is essential to developing and maintaining good relationships among farm and non-farm neighbors in our communities. This 1st Annual Farmer Neighbor Dinner will bring farm families and their neighbors together for an evening of fellowship and understanding.

The delicious dinner will feature locally produced food products, specially prepared by Robert Cross and his staff of 3-C’s Catering of Kennedy, NY. The menu will include foods grown by local farmers in Chautauqua County.

The highlight of the event will include our invited speaker, Commissioner Richard A. Ball, from the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets, Albany, NY. A native New Yorker, Mr. Ball has spent his entire life in agriculture. Commissioner Ball will share information on the highlights of the efforts of the NYS Department of Agriculture to ensure the continued success of New York State’s agricultural community and bringing safe, nutritious food to New York residents and around the world.
