Dairy Calf Management Workshop Offered

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (November 2, 2017) - Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County is pleased to offer a workshop for dairy farm owners and farm employees to learn about dairy calf management. This educational program will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown, NY.

As dairy farm businesses strive to maintain animal health and control costs in raising their dairy replacements, this workshop will be beneficial to all farm personnel involved in the daily care of their young stock. The featured speaker will be Dr. Sam Leadley, Calf and Heifer Management Specialist with Attica Veterinary Clinic, Attica, NY. The workshop will provide practical and timely information on Newborn Calf Care including: Colostrum Management, Biofilms and How to Improve Hygiene in Feeding Calves, Milk Feeding and Calf Health, plus the opportunity from participants to ask questions to help improve their calf management program.

With years of experience as the Attica Veterinary Clinic’s calf consultant, Dr. Sam Leadley writes a monthly calf management newsletter, and is the author of the Calf Facts resource library on the Attica Veterinary Clinic’s website.

The fee for this workshop which includes the program, lunch and materials will be $20 for the first person from a farm, $15 for each additional person from the same farm, payable at the workshop.
