EVENING IN THE GARDEN

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (April 20, 2015) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County Master Gardener Program is excited to announce the first Evening in the Garden on May 20th at 6 pm and its inviting you to several demonstrations in the garden. Master Gardeners will show how to prepare a raised bed for planting and when to plant different garden vegetables, how to plant several varieties of seeds, discussing spacing and depth. There will also be a demonstration on how to plant seedlings, including tomatoes, cabbage, peppers and beets. There will be a discussion about pelletized seeds, and also various ways to plant potatoes. If you would like to bring a small amount of soil from your own garden, Master Gardeners will do a pH test for you. Also being discussed will be the pros and cons of organic vs. synthetic fertilizer.

The program will start at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 20th at the Frank W. Bratt Agricultural Center Demonstration Garden. The program will be held rain or shine. In the case of rain, it will be inside the Ag Center in the large meeting room. Come join the fun and bring your family.

All are welcome to attend and the event is free of charge. The Frank Bratt W. Agricultural Center is located at 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown, NY.
