JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (June 8, 2015) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension Chautauqua County’s Master Gardeners Program is excited to announce their second Evening in the Garden on June 17, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the demonstration garden area at the Frank Bragg Agriculture Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown, New York. Led by Master Gardeners Reg Boutelle and Jim Cowan explanations of the

3 X 3 demo plots will be given, we will review how previous plantings are coming, we will show and explain the use of floating row covers, and we will show different types of mulch being used. Some of the garden beds are now planted with native plants that attract beneficial insects and you may be interested to learn more about these plants. If you would like to bring a small dry soil sample, pH testing will also be available. As a regular feature of every meeting, a question and answer time will allow anyone to ask gardening questions.

New benches have been added to the demonstration garden and the Master Gardeners would like to thank the BOCES Family Learning Zone at Gateway for constructing the benches. Director Dennis Wright & volunteers Alexander Davila Cruz, Roger Williams & Kevin Lynch worked quickly to get them ready for this year's first EIG. This group has also aided the Master Gardeners by putting up fencing for the garden.

The Evening in the Garden is held rain or shine. We will meet inside the Ag Center if the weather prevents us from meeting in the garden.
