Youth for the Quality and Care of Animals (YQCA) trainings are now available to all New York State 4-H youth. YQCA is a national multi-species quality assurance program for youth ages 8 to 21 with a focus on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development. This course is similar to PQA or BQA. 4-H youth in any animal project is welcome to take the course. The course is designed for beef, dairy, goat, hog, poultry, and sheep producers. YQCA is a valid quality assurance program for youthcompeting in the Empire Youth Swine Scholarship program.All youth who are showing a meat species are encouraged to take this course. Courses can be taken online or in-person.
Online
Visit https://yqca.learngrow.io/Account/Login to sign up and register for a course. Online courses are modeled closely to the youth’s age and take approximately one hour to complete. The course costs $12.00. Youth will receive a completion certificate when they have successfully passed the course.
In-Person
In person trainings will be held on Tuesday,April 24 and Monday, May 7 at 6:30pm at the Ag Center. This course is $3.00 per participant. You must register online in advance at https://yqca.learngrow.io/Account/Login. Create a new account, DO NOT sign-in using 4-H online. If you are not comfortable using your credit card for the purchase of the course please contact the 4-H Office for a coupon code. You can then pay for the course at the office via cash or check.
