Have you been wanting to start composting, or maybe you are an active composter and want to make your pile work more efficiently? Join us at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua for a hands-on composting workshop on Thursday, October 2nd from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
In this workshop, have Natural Resources Educator Eliza Hensel, will demonstrate how to build a successful compost pile and discuss compost maintenance methods. The first and 25 attendees will go home with a free compost bin! Through this class, participants will learn the process of composting, how to use different compost feedstocks, understanding the microbial action within a healthy compost pile as well as how to construct a well-balanced pile. In the second half of the class, there will be a hands-on demonstration and the opportunity to build a compost pile together. Participants are highly encouraged to bring their own compostable materials from home to the workshop.
