Seeds for Success-ion

  • Thursday, October 16, 2025, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County invites community members to participate in a free Seeds for Success-ion workshop. This interactive gardening program is designed to teach succession planting, food preservation techniques, as well as promoting healthy eating habits. This workshop will be offered on Thursday, October 16th from 6:00–7:00 p.m.

During the workshop, participants will learn the basics of succession planting and how to extend their harvest well into the colder months. Participants will take home a spinach starter tray from the demo, complete with a mix of vegetable seeds and extra space to encourage planting beyond our workshop! CCE-Chautauqua Agriculture Staff will share a demonstration on vegetable preservation techniques, giving participants the skills to enjoy their harvest long after the growing season ends. To connect gardening with healthy eating habits, participants will also take home recipe cards highlighting simple and nutritious dishes that feature spinach and other vegetables provided in the seed packets. By the end of the program, attendees will leave with practical tools, resources, and knowledge to keep both their gardens and their kitchens thriving.

This workshop will be held at CCE-Chautauqua @ JCC Carnahan Center, 525 Falconer Street, Jamestown, NY 14701. The program is open to all community members interested in home gardening, healthy cooking, and food preservation. Materials will be provided, and space is limited. Registration is free but required. To register or learn more, please contact CCE-Chautauqua’s Agriculture Program by calling 716-664-9502 ext. 203 or email chautauquaag@cornell.edu.
