4-H Beef Classic Show

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (May 16, 2023) -- On May 6, 2023 at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds in Dunkirk, NY, the Chautauqua County 4-H Beef Project put on a Junior Cattle Show. Participants showed their beef cattle in three divisions: Market Steers, Breeding Heifers and Showmanship. The top placing Market Steers were: Grand Champion: Nick Yokum, Orbisonia, PA; Reserve Champion: Matthew Flasher, Three Springs, PA; Third Overall: Jenna Whiting, Arcade, NY; Fourth Overall: Chloe Landphair, Chaffee, NY; and Fifth Overall: Cody Noel, Chaffee, NY.

Taking the top five honors in the heifer show were: Overall Champion Breeding Heifer: Lydia Covert, Lakewood, NY; Reserve Overall Breeding Heifer: Clayton Lathrop, Delevan, NY; Third Overall: Brooke Gerhardt, East Aurora, NY; Fourth Overall: Leslie Mesch, Collins, NY; and Fifth Overall: Jenna Whiting, Arcade, NY.

Showmanship class is how the participants handle their animals and show them to their best advantage. Showmanship classes were divided into four divisions.

Champion Peewee: Laramie Pyra

Champion Junior Showman: Jenna Whiting

Reserve Junior Showman: Chloe Landphair

Champion Intermediate Showman: Jenna Weixlmann

Reserve Champion Intermediate Showman: Lana Miles

Reserve Champion Senior Showman: Brooke Gerhardt
