LEAF (Learn, Empower, Achieve, Farm) - Fall 2022 Season

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (August 4, 2022) Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County is excited to announce the return of the well-loved LEAF (Learn Empower Achieve Farm) programming for the fall 2022 season. There are fourteen exciting classes scheduled!

The first class will be “Everything You Want To Know About Herbs” on Wednesday, September 14th at 6:00pm. The instructors are from The Herb Mill in Niobe, NY. These ladies are extremely knowledgeable about herbs in all stages of growing, preserving, drying, using them for medicinal purposes and cooking purposes.

Some additional topics that will be included are: “So You Want To Start A Farm”; “Small Scale Composting Methods For The Home”; “Equine – End of Life”: “Business Planning For Beginning Farmers”; Yummy Yeast Breads”; “Vet 101- What To Do When Things Go Wrong”; Raising Capital For Your Farm”; “Basics of Home Food Preservation”; “Sourdough and Salt Rising Breads”; “Baby Mama Drama: Do’s And Don’ts of Animal Birth on the Farm”; “Old Fashioned Soap Making”; “Sewing 101”; “Grant Writing 101”.

All classes will be taught by knowledgeable professionals in the field and each class will have plenty of time for questions and answers. Most classes will feature a hands-on activity so participants can take home new knowledge and get some guided experience. Most classes are $5.00 per person unless otherwise marked.
