JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (May 10, 2023) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s 4-H Youth Development Program is excited to announce the success of one of our very own Dairy Youth members. Dayne Jantzi of Clymer, NY and a member of the Sherman Kountry Kids 4-H club competed at the State 4-H Dairy Bowl competition at Cornell University on April 29th with more than 20 other 4-H youth from across the state.

Dairy Bowl is a quiz bowl where the youth answer questions related to dairy cattle and the dairy industry, and are recognized on their placings, as individuals and as teams. The primary objective of the 4-H Dairy Bowl Contest is to provide an opportunity for 4-H youth to demonstrate their knowledge of dairy related subject matter in a competitive setting where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. Dairy Bowl is an educational experience for both participants and spectators.

He started his Dairy Bowl Journey eight years ago and it quickly developed a passion. This year Dayne placed third in the Senior Individual contest and is one of four continuing onto the National Competition in Louisville, KY in November. Dayne will also be accompanied by other 4-H youth in the region as the Western District 4-H took 1st place in the senior team division. Congratulations to all youth and a big thank you to all the coaches and parents to make this event possible.

Dayne will be showcasing his registered dairy cattle at the Chautauqua County Fair July 17-23, 2023, amongst other 4-H youth, we hope you can stop in the barns and our youth building and see what 4-H is all about!
