The Master Gardener Help Desk Set to Open for 2024

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (March 25, 2024) -- Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s Master Gardener Program is excited to announce the Master Gardener Help Desk reopens April 3rd for the 2024 gardening season!

Gardening time is approaching and so are gardening questions. The Chautauqua County Master Gardeners are eager and ready to help answer your gardening questions with the reopening of the in person Help Desk. The Help Desk is open each Wednesday, April through September, from noon to 2:00pm. You can find them ready to help at the JCC Carnahan Center, 525 Falconer St in Jamestown – at the north entrance of the building (the “GPS Friendly” address is 241 James Ave, Jamestown). If you are unable to come to the Help Desk in person, they can be reached by email at chautauquamg@cornell.edu or by phone at 716-664-9502 ext. 224

Along with being garden problem solvers, the volunteers at the Help Desk can also provide an immediate pH soil test. A small amount of dry soil is needed for this test, and with the results Master Gardeners can advise you if any alterations need to be made to your soil.

The Master Gardener Program is one of many programs offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County (CCE-Chautauqua). CCE-Chautauqua is a subordinate governmental agency with an educational mission that operates under a form of organization and administration approved by Cornell University as agent for the State of New York. It is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The association is part of the national cooperative extension system, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments. As New York’s land grant university Cornell administers the system in this state. Each Cornell Cooperative Extension association is an independent employer that is governed by an elected Board of Directors with general oversight from Cornell. All associations work to meet the needs of the counties in which they are located as well as state and national goals.
