DUNKIRK, NY (July 20, 2023) The 2023 Chautauqua County Fair has been a maze of excitement as Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s 4-H members prepare, care for, and show their animals. Show results for 4-H exhibitors continues the excitement. 4-H Goat Program participants performed in the Small Animal Arena Wednesday in the Dairy Goat and Meat Goat Shows. Youth were judged Bryan Beaver of Linesville, PA, who evaluated youth in Showmanship Classes based on how well each youth and goat performed together. Youth in the Goat Show also participated in Dairy, Pygmy, and Market Classes in which animals were judged on respective breed standards and in Market Classes on finish and projected carcass quality. Market Goat participants sell their animals at the 4-H Meat Animal Sale on Friday, July 21st, 2023 at 12:00pm at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds main show arena.

Grand Champion Showman is a class comprised of first and second place participants from every division. Elizabeth Lindsey won the class as Master Showman. Reserve Grand Champion Showman was taken by Tianna Bova.
Cloverbuds are 4-H members ages 5-8 old that participate in non-competitive animal activities. This year, seven youth participated in the 4-H Goat Cloverbud Program and exhibited their goats in the 4-H Goat Show. Each Cloverbud member received a blue ribbon, trophy, and a donated gift. Cloverbud participants were: Bryan Catanese, Eleanor Carlberg, Bentley Frank, Samantha Overend, Wyatt Winton, Bryden Tarnowski, and Randi Frank.
4-H Goat participants showed their animals in breeding classes in which the animals were evaluated on structure, balance, breed standards and body composition. In the A.O.P. the Best Junior Doe in Show All Other Breeds is Elizabeth Lindsey with Aspen. Best Senior Doe in Show was awarded to Tianna Bova with Lala.
Best Doe in Show also went to Tianna Bova with Lala. Mariah LaRoy received top honors for the Best Dam and Daughter with Layla and Brooke. The Best Udder Award went to Tianna Bova’s goat Becca. Best 3 females went to Tianna Bova. In the Meat Goat Breeding Class, Tess Speck’s goat Frenchie received Best Junior Doe.
Greyson Kwilos received Champion Market Goat. Mackenzy Graziano received Reserve Champion Market Goat. In the Pygmy Goat Division, Abigail Carlberg received Grand with Nischievous. Abigail Carlberg received Reserve Champion Pygmy with Midnight. Supreme Champion of Show went to Greyson Kwilos with his Market Goat, Freddie. Congratulations to all the participants for their hard work all year.
