Keeping Long Term Hay Fields Productive

  • Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

REGISTRATION LINK.

Join Dan Steward, an independent crop consultant with the Western New York Crop Management association, a farmer-owned cooperative, to discuss the management of long term hay fields. Many hay growers would like to improve the quality and quantity of their hay crops, but often find stands declining instead of improving over time. This workshop will cover setting goals for forage quality and discuss how cutting schedules, species selections, soil fertility, and fertilization all contribute to success. He will also discuss weed management and alternatives for re-seeding. Pesticide re-certification credits have been applied for.
