Evening in the Garden September 21, 2016

JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK (September 19, 2016) -- Continuing their monthly meetings for the public, the Master Gardeners of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County will present their September Evening in the Garden on September 21st at 6:00 pm. The Demonstration Garden is located at the Frank Bratt Ag Center, 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown.

For September the main topic will getting your garden beds ready for winter, especially cleaning, weeding and mulching vegetable gardens, Gardeners will also show different ways to use and save vegetables for fall and winter use. Recipes will be available for zuchinni and swiss chard.

Master Gardeners will be present to answer your gardening questions and are eager to hear everyone's gardening ideas. In case of rain, the Evening in the Garden will be held inside the Ag Center.

Chautauqua County Master Gardeners also "man" a Help Desk/Help Line at the Ag Center every Wednesday from noon to 2:00 pm. You can send us an e-mail at ccemgcc@gmail.com, call the help desk at 716-664-9502 ext. 224, or drop in between 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm any Wednesday. Garden bugs, weeds, healthy plants - if you can't bring the specimen try to take some pictures if possible. The Help Desk will close at the end of September and will resume in April, 2017.

Master Gardeners who are involved in the Demonstration Garden are Reg Boutwell, Andrea McLean, Jan Barelle, Camille Guinnane, Jim Cowan, Carol Lorenc, Mary Erlandson, Carolyn Smallback, Beth Stuart, Richard Selden and Peg Hite.
