Hickory Hurst Farm operated as a family dairy farm for nearly 70 years after its
founding in 1908. During the 1990s farm
animals were eventually phased out and some fields reverted to sweet corn. Since Adrienne inherited the farm in 2009,
the farm has expanded to 12 acres in cut flowers, veggies, and small fruits.
They opened the farm stand in 2010 and joined the Chautauqua Farmers' Market in
2011. In 2014, they became certified organic for cut flowers, herbs, and most
produce.
Adrienne's horticulture and teaching backgrounds (BS, Cornell University; MS
Ed, Purdue University), coupled with her family's mechanical abilities power
the ambition to make the farm prosper. She also teaches horticulture workshops
and classes on the farm and within the community. They also serve as
farm-florists for DIY brides, local weddings, and special events.
