Anxious to start working in your garden? The Master Gardeners of Cornell Cooperative Extension are anxious and hopeful that the gardening season will soon be well underway. Therefore, the Chautauqua County Master Gardeners announce the start of the Evening in the Garden sessions for the upcoming 2019 gardening season. Every EIG will be held at the Frank Bratt Ag Center (3542 Turner Rd, Jamestown, NY) at 6pm on the third Wednesday of the month, starting with May 15th and continuing through September. Topics for this season are as follows:

May 15th: Using a cold frame and taking plants from house to garden;

June 19th: Companion gardening, weed control and cover crops;

July 17th: Succession planting and controlling insects and diseases;

August 21st: Harvesting from the garden and preserving the harvest; and lastly,

September 18th: Composting and saving seeds.

Each Evening in the Garden also provides time for questions and answers, tours of the demonstration garden, free pH soil testing and sometimes, a tasting. All ages and groups are welcome to attend the Evening in the Garden, and we hope you will come full of questions and ideas that the Master Gardeners can discuss. If you're a first time gardener, or an established gardener, come find out what's new or tried & true.
